TipClaro is your reliable, offline calculation assistant for fast tipping and fair bill splitting. Here is how it works:

Calculating Tips and Bill Splits

Enter your bill amount using digits and either a decimal point or comma. Choose a tip percentage using the quick preset chips (0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%) or enter any custom percentage up to 100%. Adjust the party size using the plus/minus buttons or direct entry (from 1 to 100 people). TipClaro calculates everything in real time: base tip, total bill, rounding difference, and each person’s share.

Transparent Rounding Modes

TipClaro offers three distinct rounding options to suit your preferences:

Exact: No rounding. The tip and individual shares are calculated to the exact cent without rounding adjustment.
Round Total: Rounds the overall bill up to the next whole currency unit (e.g. 54.20 € becomes 55.00 €). The rounding surplus is transparently credited to the tip as an additional suggested tip. TipClaro makes no payment or transfer.
Round per Person: Rounds each person’s share up to the next whole currency unit (e.g. everyone pitches in an even 12.00 €). The overall bill and total tip adjust accordingly.

Fair Cent Remainder Distribution

When splitting a bill among a group, odd cent amounts cannot always be divided equally without decimals (for instance, splitting 10.00 € among 3 people equals 3.33 € with a 1-cent remainder). TipClaro guarantees that not a single cent is lost: remainder cents are distributed one cent each to the first persons in the party (e.g. Person 1 pays 3.34 €, while Person 2 and 3 pay 3.33 €). The sum of all shares always equals the total bill exactly.

Supported Currencies and Decimals

TipClaro supports 8 major currencies: EUR, USD, GBP, CHF, CAD, and AUD with 2 decimal places, and JPY and KRW with 0 decimal places (whole units). Please note that the currency selector is solely a visual display formatting tool. TipClaro does not perform currency conversions.

No Tax Calculations

TipClaro is designed for speed and clarity at the restaurant table and does not calculate local sales taxes (such as VAT or sales tax) separately before or after tipping. All calculations apply directly to the entered amount.

Offline Reliability and Privacy

TipClaro functions 100% offline. No cellular or Wi-Fi connectivity is required to perform calculations. Ephemeral calculation values are processed solely in device memory and are not logged or stored in a history.

Updates and AppUpdateGate

When an internet connection is available, TipClaro checks quietly for version announcements against https://tipclaro.wolfmajer.com/app-version.json. Network failure does not create a new restriction. A previously confirmed minimum-version or maintenance restriction remains effective offline until a valid replacement policy lifts it. Offline legal documents remain accessible within the app at all times.
