Privacy Policy

TipClaro is an offline-first mobile app for calculating tips and splitting bills with friends, published by Paul Wolfmajer under the developer name Wolpa. This privacy policy explains transparently what data TipClaro processes, where it remains, and which external connections occur.

Controller

The controller within the meaning of Art. 4(7) GDPR is Paul Wolfmajer, a natural person (Privatperson) publishing applications under the developer name Wolpa (see Impressum). No Account, No Dangerous Permissions

TipClaro requires no user account, no login, and no registration. The app asks for no sensitive or dangerous Android permissions: no camera, no microphone, no location (neither precise nor coarse), no contacts, no photo library access, and no phone status. All calculation features operate on your device without an account.

Local Calculations and Ephemeral Data

Bill calculations run in memory on your device using exact integer arithmetic. Your selected default tip and default currency can separately be saved as preferences. TipClaro maintains no receipt history, no calculation logbook, and no tracking profile. Bill amounts are not saved to a history. Reset clears the current calculation; ending the app process discards in-memory inputs. Merely switching to another app may keep the process and current calculation alive.

Data Stored on Your Device

TipClaro stores only basic, non-sensitive preferences locally on your device in private app storage (SharedPreferences):

Your chosen language (German, English, or system), appearance (light, dark, or system), default tip percentage and default currency.
A versioned confirmation token indicating that you reviewed the start notice (first_run_legal_notice_accepted_2026-10-28).
The cached version policy record received from our version check (tipclaro_version_policy_v1).

This stored data never leaves your device. Android cloud backup and automatic device transfer are disabled for TipClaro. You can remove all stored preferences at any time by clearing app data in Android settings or by uninstalling the application.

No Advertising, No Analytics, No Tracking

TipClaro contains no advertising SDKs, no third-party ad networks, and no marketing trackers. The app contains no analytics frameworks (such as Firebase Analytics or Google Analytics) and reads no Advertising ID (GAID).

TipClaro provides an optional share button to generate a clean, formatted text summary of your calculation (e.g. total bill, tip amount, and share per person). Tapping the button opens the standard Android system share sheet so you can choose which app (e.g. messaging or email) to forward the text to. The copy button writes your calculation summary to the system clipboard. TipClaro does not read your clipboard or monitor shared content. The selected receiving app and Android clipboard features may process the text under their own rules.

Internet Access and Technical Server Logs

TipClaro uses an internet connection exclusively in two scenarios: (1) for an automated, silent version check against https://tipclaro.wolfmajer.com/app-version.json (AppUpdateGate) to notify you of required updates or maintenance, and (2) when you deliberately tap an external link (such as opening the online legal documents, sending a support email, or visiting PayPal).

Because HTTP requests inherently require network transmission, our hosting provider (Cloudflare, Inc., Cloudflare Pages) processes technical connection data, such as your public IP address, request time, requested path and user agent string (e.g. TipClaro/1.0.0 (Android)).

In accordance with privacy requirements, we do not make a blanket claim of "no data collected" for server requests, as processing the IP address is technically indispensable for internet routing and transport security. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in ensuring network security, technical stability, and reliable software delivery). Cloudflare may process connection data outside the EEA. Its applicable data protection safeguards and privacy information are available at https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/ and https://www.cloudflare.com/cloudflare-customer-dpa/. We do not add tracking cookies or analytics scripts.

Voluntary Support via PayPal

The support dialog contains a link to the provider’s PayPal donation page (https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=KGSXU6XYQ6ZKY). Tapping this link opens your external web browser. TipClaro contains no payment SDKs and handles no payment, card, or banking details. Donations are completely voluntary and unconditional; they unlock no digital goods, advantages, or app features. On PayPal, PayPal’s own privacy policy applies.

Support Email Inquiries

If you send an inquiry to support@wolfmajer.com, your email address, message, and transmission headers are processed solely to answer your questions (Art. 6(1)(b) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Inquiries are deleted once the matter is resolved and statutory retention periods have lapsed.

Storage Duration

Locally stored preferences remain on your device until you clear app storage or uninstall the app. We do not operate a calculation database. Retention of technical connection data is governed by the hosting provider and its applicable security and privacy policies; we do not promise an unverified fixed deletion period.

Your Rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and objection (Art. 21). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Austria, the responsible authority is the Österreichische Datenschutzbehörde (DSB), Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna (www.dsb.gv.at).

Changes and Versions

Material changes to this privacy policy will be published as a new dated version and presented for confirmation in the app. Earlier snapshots remain permanently available at their respective dated web addresses. This policy accurately reflects the technical features of the app and does not constitute a formal legal clearance or warranty.
